With a 500% increase in travel-related food poisoning claims in the past four years Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer has stated that fraudulent claims represent “one of the biggest issues that has hit the travel industry for many years”.
This series of seminars will look at two key factors, namely investigating fraud and the science behind the claims. They will also explore the recent exponential increase in food poisoning claims, why it is happening, what the courts are making of it, and likely developments over the next 12 months.

Increasingly claims arising out of allegations of gastroenteritis are being defended on the basis that they are fraudulent. The seminar will explore and explain the best ways of proving fraud, how best to deploy evidence of fraud, and how to discourage fraudulent claimants.
