Julian Waters specialises in personal injury, with a strong focus on catastrophic injury, brain damage and psychiatric cases. Many of his cases have been high profile.

Julian’s work also covers clinical negligence and the misdiagnosing of cancer, claims against public authorities including police claims including unlawful arrest, malicious prosecution and challenges to warrants, and libel and slander. Due to this work, Julian has developed a particular expertise in the Human Rights Act.

Julian acted for the defendant in the leading personal injury case of Painting v University of Oxford which concerned a costs order against an exaggerating but successful claimant. More recently he has been instructed in a number of Human Rights Act cases including the high profile Van Colle case regarding the protection of witnesses and the right to life.
