Nicola practises across Chambers’ core areas with particular emphasis on professional negligence, chancery and property, police law and claims against public authorities, and inquests.

Nicola is instructed in a wide range of professional negligence matters, particularly in claims involving construction professionals, solicitors and estate agents, and those that are linked to property damage.  

Nicola practises in all areas of chancery and real property in both residential and commercial matters including:

  • Co-ownership disputes, probate and trust claims, and proprietary estoppel.
  • Property damage claims, including a particular specialism in claims involving Japanese Knotweed.
  • Construction disputes and contractual disputes involving construction professionals, including builders, architects, and surveyors.

Nicola frequently acts for public authorities and police forces. She is experienced in representing the police in claims for unlawful arrest, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution and in applications to the Magistrate’s Court under its civil jurisdiction (including for Domestic Violence Protection Orders and under the Proceeds of Crime Act). She is also developing a significant practice in inquests and coronial law, appearing for local authorities and private individuals in inquests including those that are Article 2 compliant, and those with a jury.

Nicola read history at Oxford University, where she was an Exhibitioner.  She subsequently obtained an MA with distinction in Legal and Political Philosophy from University College London.  Nicola completed the GDL with distinction and was awarded the Astbury and Jules Thorn Scholarships by Middle Temple during the GDL and BPTC years.

Nicola currently runs a fortnightly housing clinic at the Westminster Citizens Advice Bureau.
