Francesca has developed a busy practice in all areas of work undertaken in Chambers, with a focus on commercial, personal injury and professional negligence. She also has a particular expertise in employment law.
Francesca frequently deals with commercial matters concerning the sale of goods and supply of services, breach of contract, misrepresentation, credit hire, and insolvency. She has experience of construction contracts and property damage.
She has extensive experience of personal injury litigation including road traffic accident claims (including allegations of fraud), claims involving the liability of occupiers and highway authorities, holiday claims and employers' liability claims including contractual disputes. She has a keen interest in professional - particularly clinical - negligence, especially those involving hospital acquired infections, and has advised and represented both NHS Trusts and Claimants.
Francesca regularly undertakes a wide variety of Employment Tribunal hearings ranging from preliminary hearings to multi-day final hearings. She has experience of dealing with issues under the Equality Act 2010, as well as unfair and wrongful dismissal, and breach of contract. Recently, she successfully obtained significant recommendations from the employer in Prospere v Ministry of Justice.
She has been described as "a very impressive and commercially minded junior, excellent on her feet, and able to deal with complex jurisdictional issues" by David Knapp, a Partner at Clyde & Co.
Francesca was a double Major Scholar at the Inner Temple during her GDL/BPTC years, and won the Ashley Jackson Law Prize. Before coming to the Bar, Francesca read History at Cambridge where she was elected to a Senior Exhibition, and won a Royal Commonwealth Society Scholarship. She also completed an MSc at the London School of Economics
